Prompt Reporting Reduces Costs The
Institute of Management and Administration points out in their January 2001 newsletter
that speedy filing of worker's comp claims leads to significant savings for employers,
according to the Hartford Financial Services Group. Hartford researchers analyzed
more than 30,000 lost-time claims over a 5-year period. They discovered that claims
filed five or more days after an injury cost an average of 15% more for medical
and income-replacement benefits than similar, promptly filed claims.
